Not afraid to get dirty, Jeep® today revealed the all-new 2007 Wrangler Unlimited from underneath six tons of mud.

Outside of the Javits Center, the beginning of the Jeep press conference featured only a simple mound of mud on stage, but quickly became one of the dirtiest vehicle reveals in New York International Auto Show history. Within minutes, a fire truck roared in with sirens blaring. Several individuals emerged from the truck and blasted mud off the first-ever four-door Wrangler. When uncovered, Jeep’s classic American icon debuted with a radical four-door open-air design — the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

The mudslinging didn’t stop there. Jeep also made a splash with the world debut of the all-new 2007 Jeep Patriot. Executives christened the newest, most capable and most affordable compact SUV into the Jeep lineup. But forget champagne. Jeep Patriot wants to get dirty, so the crowd got into the mix, dumping barrels and balloons full of mud onto Patriot to give it a proper welcome to the Jeep brand.

“In true Jeep fashion, we decided to get outside and play in the mud to introduce the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and 2007 Jeep Patriot,” said Joe Eberhardt, Executive Vice President – Global Sales, Marketing and Service, Chrysler Group. “No other vehicle in the world can replicate the Wrangler Unlimited’s unique combination of four-door convenience, open-air driving experience and unmatched off-road capability. And no other vehicle in the compact SUV class can match Patriot’s price or capability.”

World’s most capable SUV offers even more Jeep

* Even More Passenger Room and Comfort – Five-passenger seating includes 56.7 inches of rear-seat hip room, 37.2 inches of rear-seat legroom
* Even More Interior Cargo Space – 46.4 cu. ft. behind second-row seat and 83 cu. ft. with second-row seats folded flat; more cargo space than 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, 2006 Hummer H3 and 2006 Nissan Xterra
* Even More Open-air Fun – Only four-door convertible on the market features Jeep’s all-new, three-piece Freedom Top™ and the innovative Sunrider™ soft top; open-air driving in less than 30 seconds
* Even More Legendary Off-road Capability – Best-in-class ground clearance, approach and departure angles; enhanced Dana front and rear solid axles, available next-generation Command-Trac® and Rock-Trac™ transfer cases, new electric axle lockers, and electronic-disconnecting front sway bar
* Even More On-road Refinement – 116-inch wheelbase, 100-percent stiffer frame, advanced shock tuning and new cross-car steering linkage
* Even More Power and Fuel Efficiency – 3.8-liter V-6 engine features 205 horsepower and 240 lb.-ft. of torque with improved fuel economy
* Even More Convenience – Standard 60/40-split fold-flat rear seat, available power windows and door locks with remote keyless entry, full-screen navigation system, MP3 capability and SIRIUS Satellite Radio
* Even More Safety – Standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP), electronic roll mitigation and Occupant Classification System (OCS); optional seat-mounted side air bag

Featuring a one-of-a-kind, four-door open-air design, the all-new 2007 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited expands the Jeep experience to new dimensions. With room for five adult passengers – a Wrangler first – and the most cargo space ever offered in a Wrangler, the Unlimited combines class-leading off-road capability with everyday practicality.

The all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited grows to mid-size SUV proportions, offering even more comfort and space, even more versatility, even more open-air options, even more off-road capability, even more on-road refinement, even more convenience and safety features, and even more power and fuel efficiency.

“Combining four-door convenience with Wrangler’s unique open-air design and unmatched off-road capability, the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is the only four-door convertible on the market,” said George Murphy, Senior Vice President – Global Brand Marketing, Chrysler Group. “Wrangler Unlimited expands the Jeep experience and core values – freedom, adventure, mastery and authenticity – to a broader range of customers who always wanted a Wrangler, but also more space and versatility.”

The all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited features a 116-inch wheelbase, achieved by adding 20.6 inches to the standard all-new 2007 Wrangler’s 95.4-inch wheelbase. The additional length allows for a larger rear seat that features three seating positions, as well as more hip, leg and shoulder room. In addition, Wrangler Unlimited offers nearly triple the rear cargo space.

Offered in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited utilizes the same five-link solid-axle suspension configuration as the standard 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited also retains Wrangler’s coveted removable full-framed or half doors, exposed hinges, fold-down windshield and innovative removable and convertible tops.

The all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will be offered in three models: Wrangler Unlimited X, Sahara and Rubicon, and will feature hundreds of different top, door and windshield combinations. In addition, nine exterior colors and available 16-, 17-, or 18-inch wheels will be offered.

Even More Space, Comfort and Versatility
While maintaining its legendary off-road capability, the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited features a spacious interior that takes comfort and convenience to new lengths. Its 102.9 cu. ft. of total interior space provides room for five adult passengers and delivers more cargo storage and seating configurations than ever before.

“No other vehicle in the world can replicate the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited’s unique combination of best-in-class off-road capability, open-air fun and everyday convenience and versatility,” said Mike Donoughe, Vice President – Body-on-frame Product Team. “Whether it’s used as a daily driver or for extreme rock crawling, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has the ability to turn mountains into mole hills, while comfortably carrying passengers and gear.”

The 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited should hit Jeep dealer showrooms in fall 2006.

2011 Jeep Wrangler

Coming Soon From Jeep®: New Version of the Iconic Wrangler.

New 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Feature All-new Interior and Premium, Body-color, Removable Hard Top

August 19, 2010 , Auburn Hills, Mich. – Chrysler Group LLC released images today of the new 2011 Jeep® Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. Jeep continues to refine the successful Wrangler formula by combining its legendary, benchmark capability with an all-new interior that delivers rich styling with significantly upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility, and a premium appearance courtesy of an all-new body-color hard top for the popular Sahara model.

“The iconic Jeep Wrangler keeps getting better,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “While retaining unmatched, legendary capability, the 2011 Jeep Wrangler boasts an all-new interior that delivers a host of comfort, convenience and versatility features. In addition, Sahara models now feature a stunning, all-new body-color hard top, for customers looking for a Jeep Wrangler with a more premium appearance.”

New 2011 Jeep Wrangler interior highlights include a redesigned instrument panel and new storage areas with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials. A new lockable console and upgraded door armrest areas boast comfortable touch points, while a redesigned center stack is easier to reach and operate. Heated, power mirrors are now available, and drivers and passengers will enjoy enhanced visibility courtesy of larger rear windows.

All-new steering-wheel controls allow the driver to operate the radio, cruise control, hands-free phone and other vehicle functions while keeping hands on the wheel.

A new USB device interface connects to storage devices (thumb drives and most MP3 players) for use with the vehicle’s Media Center, which now includes streaming Bluetooth audio.

Twelve-volt accessory outlets have been added and a new 110-volt outlet is available to provide power similar to AC outlets in the home.

In line with traditional Jeep design, hex-head bolts are utilized throughout the interior, and are used to mount a “Jeep, Since 1941” inlay onto the new passenger grab handle.

Jeep engineers increased acoustical treatment in the 2011 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, resulting in significantly reduced interior noise.

To provide a more premium appearance, the 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Sahara models boast an all-new, premium, body-color hard top.

Several new Jeep Wrangler colors are available for 2011, including Detonator Yellow, Deep Cherry Red, Sahara Tan, Cosmos Blue and Bright White.

2012 Jeep Wrangler

Production of the new 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited began earlier this week at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Toledo, Ohio.

Jeep® Wrangler – the most capable and recognized vehicle in the world – becomes even more capable both on- and off-road for 2012, courtesy of an all-new, more fuel efficient and more powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine, and a new five-speed automatic transmission – both of which it shares with the award-winning Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Chrysler Group’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine – winner of the prestigious Ward’s 10 Best Engines award – delivers 285 horsepower (209 kW) and 260 (353 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque, while delivering up to 21 miles per gallon highway in the 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The improvement, when compared to the previous 3.8-liter V-6 engine, is 40 percent in horsepower and 10 percent in torque.

Additionally, for refined shifting and greater performance, the Jeep Wrangler migrates from a four-speed to a new five-speed automatic transmission. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler also features the company’s first application of a manual transmission to the Pentastar V-6.

Jeep continues to refine the successful Wrangler formula by combining legendary, benchmark capability with an interior that delivers rich styling with significantly upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility, and a premium appearance courtesy of a body-color hardtop for the popular Sahara and Rubicon models.

2012 Jeep Wrangler interior highlights include a recently redesigned instrument panel and storage areas with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials. A lockable console and upgraded door armrest areas boast comfortable touch points, while a redesigned center stack is easier to reach and operate. Heated, power mirrors are available, and drivers and passengers enjoy enhanced visibility courtesy of large rear windows.
