On Wednesday, July 9, 2019, a Union Pacific Railroad freight train suffered a 33-car derailment. The train cars were loaded with brand new Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers as well as Silverados and Sierras.

The wreck happened about 30 miles from the Nevada-Utah border, near Caliente, Nevada. Lincoln County Sheriff Kerry Lee confirmed the crash just after 9 am. Lee told Fox News it was the most spectacular crash he had ever seen. Lincoln County Sheriff Department‘s Facebook shared photos of the accident.

Reportedly, the train was also hauling two train cars with hazardous waste onboard. Thankfully, the hazmat tanker was not in the derailed section, though it was only 2 cars away.

FIRST DRIVE: 2020 JEEP GLADIATOR – A TRUCK IN JEEP’S CLOTHING | Four Wheeler

Four WheelerPublished on 4/23/2019 on FourWheeler Network by Sean Holman

It seems like the four-wheel-drive world has been waiting for a Jeep pickup ever since the XJ Cherokee–based MJ Comanche ceased production in 1992. Over the ensuing decades, visions of what a modern Willys pickup, J-truck, or even Scrambler could be danced through our collective heads. Jeep came close a few times but never pulled the trigger, only teasing us with what-could-be concepts, like the show-stopping ’05 Jeep Gladiator, the nostalgic ’10 Jeep NuKiser 715, the half-hearted ’11 JK-8 Independence, the awe-inspiring ’11 Mighty FC, the vintage ’11 J-12, and the attention-getting ’16 Red Rock Responder.

Jeep’s latest Moab concepts: Gladiator in multiple flavors | Automotive News

Automotive NewsPublished on 4/09/2019 on Automotive News by Vince Bond Jr.

DETROIT — The mad scientists at Jeep are at it again.

The brand is introducing its latest concept vehicles ahead of the Moab Easter Jeep Safari that begins Saturday. The event draws thousands of off-road enthusiasts. The automaker has used the event to glean insights from off-roaders and give its employees a unique perspective that aids them when creating and engineering Jeeps.

Jeep has been showcasing conceptual models at the event for about 16 years. This year, the Gladiator, Jeep’s first pickup in decades, will be the star guest.

When Mark Allen, head of Jeep design, goes to Moab, he sometimes takes around 20 people with him who work in various areas of Jeep design. Lessons learned during these experiences have left an imprint on the brand.

The truck that climbs above the rest

Hello, Jeep® 4×4 capability is a legend in its own right. And now, it’s made the All-New 2020 Jeep Gladiator the most off-road-capable mid-size pickup ever.1 Featuring standard skid plates, 4-wheel drive and heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles, this truck has earned its Trail Rated® badge.

Off-road enhancements like an available segment-exclusive2 electronic disconnecting front sway bar, front and rear locking differentials, FOX shocks and more help Jeep® Gladiator Rubicon® rise above the pack. And, with available 33” off-road tires and red front and rear tow hooks, this bold truck grabs as much attention on the town as it does on the trail.

Exclusive to the segment, the available forward-facing TrailCam3 helps you navigate trails by providing a clear view of boulders, logs and other obstacles that get in your way. And, since the best trails naturally kick up some dirt and mud, it features a washer nozzle to keep the lens clean.

The Jeep Gladiator Off-Road Review, Pricing, and Fuel Economy

Published 3/29/2019 on Expedition Portal by Chris Cordes

Since the official unveiling of the Gladiator last November, we have been discussing comparisons, weighing opinions, and feverishly waiting to get behind the wheel of the latest Jeep truck to see how it would stack up against the Colorado, Ranger, Tacoma, and Frontier. That opportunity finally arrived earlier this week when we set out on a rainy Northern California day to put it through its paces on bumpy highways, winding back roads, rocky trails, and muddy two tracks. In many ways, these tests confirmed our hopes that this was the ultra-capable mid-size truck we’ve been dreaming of, yet it also revealed some shortcomings we hadn’t expected, and that leaves room to question whether or not it will be crowned king of the segment. Jeep may have named this truck Gladiator to pay homage to its forebears, but it’s going to earn the title in a fight for the mid-size market.

This truck was built for bigger adventures.
