DETROIT — The mad scientists at Jeep are at it again.

The brand is introducing its latest concept vehicles ahead of the Moab Easter Jeep Safari that begins Saturday. The event draws thousands of off-road enthusiasts. The automaker has used the event to glean insights from off-roaders and give its employees a unique perspective that aids them when creating and engineering Jeeps.

Jeep has been showcasing conceptual models at the event for about 16 years. This year, the Gladiator, Jeep’s first pickup in decades, will be the star guest.

When Mark Allen, head of Jeep design, goes to Moab, he sometimes takes around 20 people with him who work in various areas of Jeep design. Lessons learned during these experiences have left an imprint on the brand.
