2.0L Turbo JL/JLU Wrangler Will Have 368 HP!

We’ve just found the “2018 Model Year FCA US MPV/Truck VIN Decoder”document that FCA submitted directly to the NHTSA showing initial release info for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler (among other vehicles).

The whopper here is the new Hurricane 2.0L Turbo I4 engine which FCA has listed at 368 horsepower! Yes, let that sink in for a bit.

As we’ve reported, and this document now supports, the updated Pentastar 3.6L V6 will be the base engine and we now know horsepower will remain unchanged at 285 horsepower.

The document also shows the new Wrangler will be launched initially only with the 4-door JLU offering, although our JL production timeline indicates the 2-door will arrive shortly after (around Feb 2018).
